Service was fine. Product far too expensive. Vegetable cage. Flimsy poles.

Thank you for your order and review. We are very disappointed to learn that the item you ordered did not meet your expectations. You mention the framework to your vegetable cage is flimsy. Providing the uprights of the cage are pushed into the ground to the correct depth and the framework is erected correctly, it will be sturdy enough. All sizes of cage are thoroughly tested for strength in the design process. To help with cages situated where strong winds are likely we do offer bracing to fix to the framework. Products good and easy to construct - once they arrived.. Delivery proved challenging and took much longer than expected. Different couriers with different 'rules' and a lot of chasing was required and waiting in. Not a great experience

A phone call was required to check suitability of product, obelisks for growing sweet peas up as no photos on website. Non gardener responded. Also delivery was a bit delayed and product large left behind our car in front yard, a text re delivery slot would have been helpful.

Order through the website was easy and delivery was prompt. But it would be helpful if the instructions to erect the fruit cage had included those for the corner brackets within the text instead of as a separate sheet. It seemed to be one step forward, two steps back at times. Having to disassemble bits always annoys.

Usually good service but still haven’t received my nematodes despite being told they were delayed and would arrive by the end of may! I had to phone to find out this info, it would have been much better if you had contacted me, and it’s not too late to let me know when to expect them, hopefully before I go on holidsy

The design of the planters I purchased seems unique so if you like the design it’s the only choice although I would say on the expensive side. The product itself is robust and well made the engineering is simple. The online ordering process is straight forward and with the PayPal option very convenient. Order acknowledgment is fast and any out of stock updates fast and efficient. The major downside is delivery notification estimate. I have purchased items on numerous occasions so my experience is not a one off. Today’s world of Amazon next day delivery schedules make the “sometime in the next three days” estimate unacceptable. It’s unreasonable and inconvenient having to stay home awaiting a delivery for this long, I want to know to the nearest day or preferably 4 hour time slot. Given a choice of where to buy this is enough to take my custom elsewhere

Recently bought some staging for my polytunnel - excellent quality and easy to assemble. However, a real shame that most pieces were covered in a blue plastic film that needed removing and will have just ended up in landfill or worse. With the growing concern about plastic pollution on the land and in our oceans, this plastic film seemed uneccessary and would urge Harrod Horticultural to do something about it!

We regularly review each and every product we stock – partly based on very welcome feedback such as yours - to ensure they are packed as efficiently as possible and are well protected for the uncomfortable journey they are about to take. We work closely with our suppliers to try and ensure products we purchase from them are adequately packaged on delivery to us, and of course, we have much greater control over packaging of the items we design and manufacture ourselves. Thank you for your order and review. We are very disappointed to learn that the Nemaslug you ordered did not meet your expectations. Nemaslug is a live pest control product and would need specific conditions to be effective. Providing the instructions for application and storage have been followed and the Nemaslug are used before the date shown on the pack then they should work. Nemaslug will not kill a slug instantly on contact. The nematodes need to infect the slug and this may take a few days before you start to see results. We hope this information is of help to you. However please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further assistance.

Delivered promptly. But. The cloches are not quite as robust as I had expected and DO NOT fit a four foot wide raised bed if capping has been used. Disappointed at this. New protection frames are sturdy and fairly easy to assemble but be aware, if fitting fine mesh ready made covers, the frames have to be high as the mesh has pre made holes for anchoring into the soil and therefore sags in the middle if not fully stretched.
