“The order was dealt with efficiently and fast, even though it was very inconvenient that the two orders arrived as separate deliveries. We were very disappointed that the three part compost bin arrived in more than 100 single parts, and every item had to be assembled in order to build the bins. It would have been helpful to have had this information prior to ordering. We assumed that the bins are delivered as flatpack panels, and it cost us two days to assemble everything instead of the assumed 3 hours.”

Thank you for your recent review and order. We understand from your comments that you are unhappy with the prices of some of the products in our catalogue and on our website. Obviously we would like all our customers to be completely satisfied with every aspect of our service and would like to offer a brief explanation into our pricing structure. Wherever possible, we aim to be competitive when fixing prices on products that other mail order companies of our size stock. We spend a great deal of resources on ensuring we charge a similar price and wherever possible, we try to give our customers an even better deal. We try to source superior products to offer to our customers and also try to research, design and manufacture our own products wherever possible using superior materials. “After our sweet pea frames were damaged by high winds, it was simple to find a replacement set of plastic brackets on the Harrod Horticultural website. Delivery was quick and the brackets were easy to fit - job done!”

“Our most recent purchase was raised garden beds. Generally, we are happy with these but the corner posts are quite hard and the screws have soft heads so that the screw heads often became chewed up. You recommend drilling pilot holes but this is laborious. We have an electric drill and a hand drill so we either had to keep changing the bit on the electric drill or use the hand drill. Using the latter, we managed to break a drill bit in the hard wood of the corner post so then drove the screws through with the electric drill. In most cases this was fine but in a few cases it took several efforts and even then left some screw heads proud. Good product but could be better. Also, it would have been helpful to have a guide as to the best way of fitting the liners. We just managed to tuck the handles under the capping but still had to tack edges in place. By the way what happens if you want to put supporting stakes in for, say, broad beans?”
